AARO - 3rd Thursday - October 16th

Dear AARO Members,
October 3rd Thursday returns to Braunuv Sklep on Karlovo namesti (directions below) and sees the launch of a new format which, if popular, will set the scene for future monthly gatherings.
This month we start with the usual social a little earlier at 5:30pm (allowing you to take advantage of the daily menu specials available until 6pm). Then at 7:30pm we move into the salon for a movie showing from DVD. Over the coming months we will be featuring a selection of movies nominated for this year's European Film Awards, by special arrangement with Mr. Norbert Auerbach, AARO Vice-President,  Founder Member and Member of the European Film Academy.
October's offering is Lemon Tree, an Israeli / German / French coproduction directed by Eran Riklis, which is based on the true story of a Palestinian woman whose lemon grove lies on the Israeli / West Bank border. The Israeli Defence Minister becomes her new neighbor and insists that the lemon grove be torn down for security reasons. This is the story of her fight to save her lemon grove.
Winner of the 2008 Audience Award at the Berlinale Film Festival, this is a moving, beautifully made film accessible to a wide audience.
