AARO Movie - Ecstasy - 17th September - Guests welcome
Dear AARO Members,
We are pleased to announce that the September screening of Ecstasy (details below) is now being opened to Members' guests. Please spread the word about what is a very rare opportunity to watch this beautifully made, notorious classic Czech movie that launched the career of Hedy Lamarr. Among other cinematic sensations, the film includes wonderful footage of the Barrandov Terasy in the venue's prime.
We will be projecting from a film print with English subtitles, provided by the National Film Archives, so you and your guests can enjoy the movie in all its original glory.
For guests, we will politely request a contribution of 100 CZK per head towards the cost of the event. Anyone who joins AARO for the remainder of the year at the event (1,000 CZK for an individual, 1,200 CZK for a couple) will not pay this charge and will be welcome at no cost to the Thanksgiving Dinner and at least one more movie presentation this year.
Please rsvp (if you haven't already) and let me know how many guests you plan to bring by 4th September, thank you.

American Center - Month ahead schedule
Sent: Thursday, August 06, 2009 3:39 PM
Subject: MONTH AHEAD CALENDAR: August 1 - 31, 2009
August is a very exciting month at the American Center. First, we welcome astronaut Andrew Feustel and his wife Indira at a special public event in our garden. Then another distinguished speaker, professor emeritus Edmund Lambeth of the University of Missouri's prestigious School of Journalism, visits to discuss how electronic media are changing the way we get our news. Still talking media, we will premiere The Paper, a documentary about the modern American newsroom. On the last day of August we invite all friends of the American Center and their families to enjoy the music of Rolnicka Praha, a youth chorus returning from an overseas tour, who will help us conclude the summer season and open our fall schedule. There will be a special surprise for kids, too: Portuguese Water Dogs, the same kind recently made popular when the Obamas added one to their family in the White House.
