U.S. Embassy Warden Message
Expected Political Demonstrations in Downtown Prague

This Warden Message informs U.S. citizens that political demonstrations are expected/scheduled to occur on Saturday, May 1st, in the vicinity of Náměsti Republiky metro station and Masarykovo Nádraži (Masaryk railway station).  The potential exists for violent confrontations involving left- and right-wing political organizations.  Pedestrian zones between, within, and around these stations, to include the area near the Palladium shopping center, are locations of particular concern to Czech law enforcement authorities.  American citizens and their families should exercise caution and avoid these areas or any other impromptu gathering or transit sites where potentially unruly groups may be present.

You can stay in touch and get Embassy updates by checking the Embassy's website.  You can also get global updates at the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs website where you can find the current Worldwide Caution, Travel Warnings, Travel Alerts, and Country Specific Information.  If you don't have internet access, we have a call center for updates--1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the U.S. and Canada, or outside the U.S. and Canada on a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444.

For after-hours emergencies, please call the U.S. Embassy in Prague at +420-257-022-000.
